Friends of Camp Salmen

Being a Friend to Camp Salmen Nature Park

The Friends of Camp Salmen Nature Park are a group of folks committed to making the park the best it can be. Using their individual talents, the Friends help to link Park with community to promote nature education and appreciation; to study and preserve local ecology; to promote awareness of St. Tammany history from Native American settlement to the more recent Scout history; and to encourage respectful use and enjoyment of the park by both local residents and visitors.

  • Educational Program Development
  • Public Forum Hosting
  • Special Event and Fund Raiser Assistance

Some Volunteer Project Ideas:

  • Build a bluebird box or picnic table
  • Pick up litter at the park
  • Weed garden beds or remove invasive plants
  • Collector - Donate new or gently used nature/history books to the park library
  • Take photographs of the park - Email or snail mail to the address below
  • Record and submit nature park observations - Email or snail mail to the address below
  • Every membership receives a FREE Camp Salmen T-Shirt and a FREE Interpretive Tours (by appointment).
